Movie #7 of The June Challenge
This isn't a coming of age story. Ok, well, I guess it is, but it isn't one you're going to give a shit about.
This is the story of an entitled bohemian that hasn't done an honest day's work in her life struggling to come to terms with the fact that life sucks and she's not going to be able to be a bum her whole life. Frances feels sorry for herself, has a midlife crisis at 27 where she goes on a frivolous weekend trip, has a lame epiphany where she figures out that her friend's life sucks too, and then gets her shit together for the final five minutes and finally does something productive. Isn't that delightful?
I have nothing in common with Frances. She's someone that somebody somewhere will sit around and talk romantically about like she's some kind of goddamn hero while drinking a glass of wine and listening to the Velvet Underground ironically. It's all bullshit and I want no part of it.
