Guyzo997’s review published on Letterboxd:
Has a lot of problems, for example feeling a half hour longer than it really is. Probably that’s due to the fact that there are two climaxes, and the comedy is mostly ineffective. Sometimes it’s funny, but the style follows that of Ferrell, which is starting to feel tired. The attempts at emotional sincerity that pop up late in the movie were unearned, it reminded me of an Adam Sandler film.
Also none of the principals who play Icelanders are actually Icelandic. It’s more or less a below average modern comedy, or par for the course of Will Ferrell. It’s elevated by some good songs on the soundtrack, just listen to that to save time. Two and a half stars.
