  Damn, this got crazy. While I can understand some people being bored during the first half of the film, I thought it was a good setup for the main character’s relationship I’d compare it to the first half of The Deer Hunter not about Vietnam, but showing the characters in their environment before their combat in order to show the juxtaposition of them afterwards.
