Every now and again a movie comes along and gives pop culture a nudge. Gone Girl came and punched it in the face.
Don't get me wrong, over the years we've had plenty of complex, crazy females in cinema but this is different. This gives you more than that and twists the knife continuously. There's enough familiarity to send shudders through the audience and that's enough to embed it in your brain. Let the record show, we deserve stories where women are straight up operators.
I don't think my rambling can justify how much this film gives me satisfaction.
