Really wanted to love this. It looks lovely, the production and sound design is great (the Ent-like creaks of the Green Knight), and Lowery rarely does wrong for me. I just couldn’t get into this. The styling holds you at arm’s length emotionally, and any sort of character - or especially character development - is scant. Barry Keoghan has the most interesting character, but he’s on screen for barely five minutes.
Chalking it up to another A24 entry that is made for a certain type of person that definitely isn’t me.
