Tim Watterson’s review published on Letterboxd:
So, Quint and Hooper are comparing scars and Brody asks about Quint's tattoo that he had removed. Hooper makes a joke about it saying "Mother".
Then Quint smiles it off, saying it was the U.S.S. Indianapolis. The look on Hooper's face as his laughter fades and he realizes Quint isn't joking, asking if he really was on the Indianapolis.
Then Quint goes into his speech... one of the greatest monologues in film history.
To me, it's the scariest part in the film. It's like Robert Shaw was ACTUALLY on the Indianapolis and had witnessed the horrors first hand.
Then at the end: Anyway... we delivered the bomb. *said nonchalantly with a smile*
Fucking masterpiece. Absolute fucking masterpiece.
