Drive My Car

Drive My Car ★★★½

she really drove his car.

how they transformed a short story by murakami into a three-hour-long film numbs my mind. some aspects of this film completely reminded me of both norwegian wood and burning, and that's probably the similar theme and tone murakami always tries to emplace in his works.

several metaphors were also conveyed—from the moving red car to the multilingual theater performance. scriptwriting is very greatly done, and ending is quite intriguing too.

this is apparently my first film by hamaguchi, and i already can't wait to see more from him and to have a rewatch of this one bc it rightfully deserves to have so.
