American Psycho

American Psycho ★★★★½

I love this one. I love that a woman directed it. I love that it actually feels like something that was made in the 80's. I love the soundtrack. And I love Bale's performance - he captured Patrick so well it felt like he stepped off the pages of the book, despite the fact that this movie is at best 1% as sick as the novel is.

This is really hard, I can't decide if I prefer the character of Dennis Reynolds over Patrick Bateman or Glenn Howerton's performance over Christian Bale's performance. It's so damn close. It's also impossible to decide if Road Rage while Summer of '69 plays beats killing a co-worker while Hip to be Square plays. But for sure:
"YOU OLD, FAT BITCH!" > "you're a fucking ugly bitch" and
Guigino > Dorsia

On the other hand Dennis could do everything Patrick did but Patrick could never come up with the implication, eating cereal in his car or his own version of the D.E.N.N.I.S. system.

So the Golden God reigns supreme. He is not taking questions. He is taking action.
