The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey ★★

Almost every scene in this is at least three times as long as it should be. Everything between Shire and Rivendell is Snyder's DCEU films level shitshow - bloated, boring, ugly color grading, videogame CGI, one theme song they keep blasting like maniacs. It gets slightly better from there. Slightly.

Martin Freeman is great, Richard Armitage is doing what he can with what he was given and it's a joy to see the actors from the original trilogy. The Gollum scene is excellent and makes the film worth watching.
