The Double Life of Véronique

The Double Life of Véronique ★★★★

As magical and humane as I remember it from 30(!) yrs ago.  It has S. Idziak’s use of reflections/lenses/globes as usual, a gorgeous warm palette, plus Kieslowski's Old Woman-Sisyphus of-Humanite piece.
I think too many annoying puzzle piece plots of the 90s were inspired by this, but that’s probably Weinstein’s fault.
For beautiful low tech handheld imagery, and music integrated into the flow of a story, this is a hard one to beat.

I never realized how much Kaufman may have been inspired by this for Being John Malkovich until tonight.
