    Joe Dante explicitly said that this movie was inspired by Hellzapoppin’, and I honestly can’t think of any major studio output that proves a more deserving heir to the spirit of Olsen & Johnson, as well as of course the Looney Tunes, than this. It’s wild, it riffs on everything, it has big chunks that don’t make any sense at all, and it’s a brilliant, blessed event.
