Finally got around to seeing this whole thing after years of seeing so many different scenes.
It all makes sense now. This is iconic. The lines that stick, the whole idea and conflict - it just feels classic.
The writing does feel "old" that it's a super basic 3 act centered around veetinf the bully mixed with "regular" life in-between. But that tight 3 act structure also works so well.
The cinematography here is also incredible. Especially in the first act. Everyone knows about the dolly zoom but why don't more people talk about that split diopter!? Loved it.
I also love that the film just concludes after the 3rd act conclusion.
Bully = exploded > "I used to hate the water." "I can't imagine why." > Shorts credits. Fantastic!
