I'm so behind on logs, so let's make this quick.
Jake Gyllenhaal is great, but that's because he's Jake Gyllenhaal.
J.B. Smoove is hilarious and my favorite part of the movie.
Some scenes are ripped right off the page, props to the incredibly talented VFX artists.
The final fight is fun and Peter learning to use Spider sense is a blast.
MJ's and Peter's relationship is the most solid part of the film, and the only thing adding a sense of personal investment.
But..... Everything else here bothers me. The story is messy and way to "big" for Spider-Man. And the arc of Peter is a rehash of what we got earlier.
And I struggle to watch this movie, visually it is a mess. There is such an over-reliance on CGI that isn't needed. My eyes glaze over and I get sick of watching.
But it's part of Spider-Man Week at The Basement Binge so there is a very short episode available wherever podcasts are found.
