I watch movies, and most of the time I like them
Taiwanese films drew heavily on Italian neorealism, not just because they had the access to it, but becuase they could relate to it. Struggle and daily life were intertwined, almost inseparable, for many and the easiest way to tell their stories was on film. This is semi-autobiographical. It is not exciting. It is life. It is people going about their lives and dealing with all the shit that comes at them. Just like everyone else. One thing happens, then another, then another. That’s life. That’s this movie.
