Hayden Welch’s review published on Letterboxd:
“There is no right or wrong. Just the morals of nature.”
Just as the title implies. One of the best escalations in recent memory. It’s not saying anything particularly new, but the way it’s being said is so compelling. The seeds of jealousy and possession are layered from the beginning and the descent is a helpless and and thrilling watch. There’s no definitive answer, no twist, no grand revelation; a mystery with no culprit or solution.
Aesthetically this is one of the finest looking films to come out in the past decade. It’s got a very clean and modern look; much to Sean Bakers’ dismay digital cinema has never been more effective. Top it off with subdued and inter-woven character performances and you have a stellar piece.
