“We'll see who's the filthiest person alive! We'll just see!”

Not nearly as singular or purposeful as Female Trouble, but Pink Flamingo’s pure dedication to filth and degeneration as comedy is so admirable. I appreciate how John Waters used this extremely simple plot to exercise this strange and otherworldly experience. Pink Flamingos wouldn’t work as well as it does without playing it straight, yet never indicating that it thinks it’s points are serious. It’s simply an observation of a radical lifestyle.

I do wish Pink Flamingos’ jokes and vile moments felt more purposeful, or that there was more happening thematically. It’s certainly odd and singular, and for what it is I enjoyed it.
