Hayden Welch’s review published on Letterboxd:
“That's what I love about pop music. I don't want people to have to think too hard. I just want them to feel good.”
This is a really interesting and singular film. It has so much I adore yet so much I loathe. It’s commentary on the music industry, particularly the up-and-coming, young, hungry pop star is nothing new on the surface. That being said on this rewatch my thoughts are much more positive and I believe some of my criticisms were more intentional that I noticed, and these subtleties make Vox Lux a much more enjoyable experience. Perhaps I’ll never make a definitive stand on Vox Lux but as it is now I really and truly enjoy it; flaws and all.
