Helen’s review published on Letterboxd:
Okay, I was shocked by the production value alone. This was a MASSIVE step up from 3 and actually pretty good. Mostly back to practical splatter effects except for a few instances of CGI which I didn’t mind.
The film is set in an abandoned hospital during a blizzard which seemed like it would be very out of place for this franchise but it worked! It’s so watchable and I’m still a bit surprised.
This could probably sit at a 3 for me but I’m giving it an extra half star because of how big of a step up it was.
*Also the cold open scene set to The Blue Danube Waltz was excellent... for real, good for them.
