    Cronenberg, as a rule, does not consider himself a "horror filmmaker". And with good reason! If you watch his films, in surprisingly few of them is the "change" presented as anything to be scared of, unless you're rigidly conservative. Cronenberg clearly welcomes all these changes - he loves the malleability of the human form. It is beautiful to him, not horrific. Which is of course why he attacks such a large queer following.
