    Sun Don't Shine


    Immersive, anxious and so well-crafted. Never settles for only capturing the milieu but actually embodies it as exquisitely as the beautiful handheld camerawork conveys the overall unhinged ambience.

    It was surely difficult to get a definitive grasp on its core in any emotional or narrative terms, but simultaneously that's exactly what felt so wonderful about it, that distinctive vagueness. And I grew to love Kate Lyn Sheil's performance!

    I'm so unsure how to feel about this as a whole. Despite admiring how it sometimes manages to craft a sinister atmosphere from its outlandish premise, I often had a difficult time really connecting with what was going on.

    For quite a while, I thought I was going to dislike this one more than I ended up. Even though the more tense scenes were typical Hitchcock quality, other aspects such as the totally meaningless romantic angle with totally underdeveloped characters…

    And here's another one that struck me so so much deeper now than the last time I saw it a few years ago - absolutely loved it, surely one of my favorite Lynch films as of now!

    A manic and violent, but ultimately life-affirming and strikingly endearing tale of true love in a hellscape of a world. So refreshing, so beautiful. From time to time, we all need those words of wisdom from Sheryl Lee as the Good Witch.

    We, as a human species, don't deserve these creations of Varda's talent. What an immaculate glow this film has. Even though it's full of misery, the gorgeous color palette makes it feel like a heavenly fairytale saturated in sunflowers, and I love that dissonance.
