Gone Girl is one of the darkest films I have ever seen. I was not ready at all for what I was about to witness and its just a masterpiece. The story and the way it unravels is genius. This is some of Finchers best directing ever and every single performance is a career best. Especially Ben Affleck who gets tormented in this film. And another thing this movie does is bounce back and forth between the main story and a diary of their relationship. Which adds so much doubt to whether or not Ben Affleck's characters did it. The movie is brilliant in making it so you really don't know whats going on and who's responsible.

And the way the twist is revealed reminded me of what A Simple Favor tried to do but didn't do it nearly as well as this film. I can't say it did it poorly but the way this film does it is genius. The cast is one of the best casts of the decade. I started to talk about Ben Affleck but he is truly amazing in this movie and so is Rosmund Pike a name that has stuck with me ever since I heard her name and I had no idea why. Its hard not to spoil it but what this movie makes you feel about her character was so well done. Tyler Perry is also really good in this as the defense attorney and its a shame we never got more like this from him. Instead we got Madea movies which is frustrating because of how much talent he has as an actor.

The ending truly shocked me to my core. I did not see it coming at all and in the one sense I think its brilliant but in another I wanted some pay off so I honestly don't know what to think about it. Except that it blew me away while I was watching it. This is one of the best thrillers of the past decade and will definitely make my favorites list. Its brilliantly directed and masterfully shot. And it also has some of my favorite performances of the past decade. Truly a brilliant film.
