Wild at Heart

Wild at Heart ★★★★

“And I told her I had a boner with a capital “O”

I’m not entirely sure why I didn’t gel with this on my first watch, though it was first watched at a time when I didn’t really get David Lynch. I do now and this is great! I mean WHEW fucking insane movie with great one liners (and an overall fantastic script) and a terrific cast. Willem Dafoe doesn’t even show up until the last act, and you’re still completely unnerved and on the edge of your seat before that.

Many things I loved on this watch. This soundtrack is fantastic, the editing is surreal yet effective, feels like Lynch is fucking with the audience so much here. Love this aspect with Lula’s mom how she doesn’t want her daughter to have any happiness since she never did herself. And overall, just a great romance flick with some insane lynchian moments. It definitely lost my attention a few times here and there, but the highs are so high that the time I was getting lost feels non-sequential. And that last act is impossible to stop watching. Truly, Lynch’s take on an Elvis movie. Light 8!
