Geoffrey Rush channeling Vincent Price is absolutely ridiculous. He’s so fun.
We get Marilyn Manson’s Sweet Dreams not even 15min in.
I have a mad crush on dorky, scruffy Chris Kattan. He is such a highlight here. (Peter Gallagher is looking mighty fine as well.)

a goddamn masterpiece and the absolute best part is cary elwes REALLY NOTICEABLY slipping back into his english accent whenever he shouts. don't ask me why but this movie is so much better for the fact that dr. gordon randomly gets english when he's cross. between that and the fact that he spends half the movie screaming and sobbing on the floor, i have never related to anyone so much. i would die for cary elwes now.

when i grew up reading spider-man comics i really related to the parts where peter parker got handed state-of-the-art tech to beat up working class laborers that were screwed over by his billionaire mentor. fond memories of devin faraci saying michael keaton was a bernie bro when this came out lol. anyway, pretty cute and funny and well-performed outside of every decision they made to strip my fav comic book character of any drama or details about his class status.

There needs to be a name for the subgenre of films including this, The Nightingale, and Hagazussa, which use typical horror film tropes to tell profoundly less interesting stories about how people are bad, actually.
The basic plot of this movie is that some annoying kids Home Alone a mentally ill cult survivor into a murder-suicide. It's much less interesting than that description makes it sound.
