WHY’D YA SPILL YER BEANS?
This was the most fun I’ve had at a movie in awhile. I had such a good time watching it. I think what worked so well for me was: the tone, the style, and the acting.
This movie was hilarious but it was also really suspenseful and I think it balances that tone very well. It’s easy for a movie this outlandish to be too much but it worked in this movie and I was just along for the ride.
The style was amazing and helped give this movie a very specific feeling. It made the movie feel dark and restrictive and I really liked it.
But the best part of this movie was the performances. Robert Pattinson has never impressed me so much but he was absolutely phenomenal. Willem Defoe is always incredible but here in particular, I don’t know that I would have loved this movie as much as I do without him.
Sometimes the dialogue between the two was hard to follow but I kind of liked that because everything else in this movie felt disorientating and weird that it worked for me. And those two were able to sell the feeling very well.
I really loved this and I can’t wait to see it again.
