    There’s just something compelling about watching a film that clearly exists for no reason other than to showcase the creators’ love for a bygone kind of chamber thriller. Damien Chazelle cracks his knuckles over a script so outrageously plotted that the instantly-dated use of a blackberry cell phone throughout the film feels outright organic, and yet even still, if it wasn’t for the soothing timbre of John Cusack’s voice, who knows if it would have worked.
