    Black Christmas 1974

“Speaking of professional virgins, here we have the Queen of Vaudeville circa 1891.”

Could have used more Barb. Everything she says is fantastic and she is just fully drunk in every scene. And based on some IMDB trivia I just read, so was Margot Kidder. Someone probably showed Margot how an inhaler works before they shot her scene with one. Cuz that ain’t it.

Mrs. Mac was a real one.

Andrea Riseborough's good, very much deserved that Oscar nom. My issue is that this movie's 2 hours long, but it feels double that. Because you've seen this kind of character make these terrible decisions in this kind of story so many times before, it crawls from one predictable plot point to the next. But yes, Riseborough throws down and so does Marc Maron, things actually get a bit more interesting when he shows up about halfway through. Plays out as you'd expect, but the performances make it well worth a watch.

One of those times I feel like a movie was made specifically for me. So many five star moments! Rolling around in sloshing bodily fluids with black metal! Dolly De Leon getting her nut in a tuna can! Also We’ve Lost Dancing over the credits? are you kidding me! 🫠

Steven Caple Jr. steps into the director's chair and continues the trend of emotional storytelling by bringing back Ivan Drago and his son. Dolph Lundgren and Florian Munteanu bring us into Drago's downfall after his loss to Rocky. Throughout the film, Caple explores the importance of father-son relationships. He explores the family dynamic between Adonis and Rocky, but Rocky also must address his turbulent relationship with his son, who bears his name. Adonis must recognize that he doesn't have to…

My dad out of curiosity decided to watch it, after seeing how it's always been mentioned on the news for a couple of weeks, and he was silent paying attention, and occasionally laughing at the weird stuff, without a negative thing at mind; in the end, he didn't had anything negative to say, and said some good stuff about it, which is quite cool to say the least.

An Ostrich Told Me the World Is Fake and I Think I Believe It 2022

    GUIBOB

    ★★★ Watched by GUIBOB 10 Mar 2023

The most quirky animated short nominated for the Oscars this year was entertainning.

An Ostrich Told Me the World Is Fake and I Think I Believe It was short enough (not like it's title) to be funny and not redundant. I pretty much always respect stop-motion animation and this one isn't different. While the plot was nothing new and sometimes felt a bit uninspired, it's clear that this short film was made with heart. The animation was well-made, and the…

  • Boston Strangler

    Boston Strangler 2023

    AdamAB

    ★★ Watched by AdamAB 19 Mar 2023

Zodiac is one of my favourite films so another thriller taking a similar approach was an exciting prospect. Unfortunately, Boston Strangler doesn’t offer much in the way of exciting filmmaking. There’s nothing overtly terrible about the piece; it’s safely competent and strictly respectful. However, the film’s script is burdened with wooden dialogue and ceases to find the necessary depth within its dogged protagonists. Rather than sizzling with tension like the aforementioned Zodiac, Matt Ruskin’s serial killer exposé is a drab, shallow and slightly tedious affair. Adequate but uninspired.
