Lightyear

Lightyear ★★★½

To preface, Toy Story is without a doubt my favorite film franchise of all time. This review will likely contain some bias. I have been infatuated with Buzz Lightyear since I was a child, every Halloween or dress up birthday that’s what I was. Without failure.

With that said, I adored this movie because this character was such an integral part of my childhood and something I’ve known my entire life. Does it have its flaws? Of course. I was lucky to attend an early access screening 2 days before release so I will not spoil anything. If you like Pixar or any of the Toy Stormy films this is a must see. Like I said, it has its flaws, but let me confidently assure you: the animation is not one. It is breathtaking and even overwhelming at times how unbelievable and intricately crafted the visuals in this movie are. I was surprised there was no Pixar short to warm us up before the movie.

All in all, lovely experience. But my perception of this character and his history is skewed when compared to the average movie goer. If you see it, you won’t regret it, but you might not love it. That’s for you to find out.
