Ashamed to say the 3 hrs and 20 min run time scared me off for years but tonight I was very in the mood for a mainstream/classic American biopic, and was very into Malcolm X for the first 30 minutes and all ready to announce how I love cinema, and then proceeded to go on my phone for the next hour or so because Malcolm X is indeed the type of cinema that I would have been very happy toβ¦

Maurice 1987
Man I still have a love/hate relationship with this movie LOL. Like half of me is convinced I could only enjoy and follow Maurice (1987) because I like the book, and I'm still conflicted af about why they had to undercut the romance with so much suffering for the queer characters and the happy ending with a depressing ending.
I still feel like they just lifted page to screen (minus the changes) rather than succesfully adapt a book to screen.β¦
