Honestly & Dav’s review published on Letterboxd:
This film made me tear up twice and I’m not afraid to admit it.
1. When the little British boats showed up and all the soldiers started to cheer I was like bruh they dumb as fuck they can only take like maybe 1000-2000 guys back at best? But then it hit me… they’re risking their lives to come save soldiers who they’ve never met, and that brought me to tears man… Just cause I don’t think that would ever happen today, no one is risking their lives to save soldiers who are a day away. It’s just not happening. But these old British citizens know that it’s the right thing to do.
2. When Tom Hardy saves the beach in his plane with no fuel and soldiers are cheering him on. Idk why but man the water works kept coming. I thought more Spitfires might’ve shown up at the end, but nah it was just Hardy fucking some Nazi bombers and fighters up all by himself.
3. (BONUS) When the soldiers return to Britain and that man hands them two cokes? Beers? Whatever it was the emotions in this scene are unreal man, and especially while (not Harry Styles is) reading Their Finest Hour this ending is truly a 10/10.
(Secret: I may have ate a brownie before watching this🥴)
