Rather than an upgrade from Hereditary (see Good Time and Uncut Gems) Midsommar uses the same meaningless “spooky” Gen Z horror with irritating shit like naked people forever chanting for the later second half of the film again.
A lot of what your attention is brought to becomes completely meaningless. I have absolutely no reason to care for the character’s that are in danger (the main one isn’t), Christian is a huge prick of a boyfriend, the other anthropologist is boring, and Mark is a sexist.
for two and a half hours this was so whatever lol. At least Hereditary wasn’t necessarily predictable, this very much was. watch something more worth your time; Midsommar is not that.
