All Quiet on the Western Front

All Quiet on the Western Front ★★★★½

This ranks amongst the greatest war/anti-war films of all time. It damn near approaches masterpiece status in my estimation.

The cinematography is remarkable. The battles are intense and terrifying. The characters are real and relatable.

Our protagonist’s, Paul, humanity is stretched then torn then shredded. It’s then pieced together by patchwork only to have it stomped in the mud.

The fact that wars and battles are mostly based on the pettiness and grotesque nature of tiny men looms in the background and is ultimately the point of the film.

This receives my utmost recommendation
