Well, I know it's a bit out of season, but my mind has been lurking in some pretty dark corners lately, so I needed some lifting up. You really can't go wrong with The Muppets, and then you throw in Michael Caine, who acts like he is acting alongside the Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as music and lyrics by Paul Williams, and you have a certified hit!

The Snows of Kilimanjaro 1952
A mishmash of Hemingway's greatest hits, which stretches one of his most famous short stories beyond length and recognition. I didn't necessarily mind the focus on Harry's (Gregory Peck) fling with Cynthia Green (Ava Gardner), their official meeting over cigarettes in an intimate Parisian setting is particularly enticing, but when things shifted to Harry and Countess Liz (Hildegard Knef), I was begging for the film to wrap it up. It eventually does (thank God), with Susan Hayward left to save what remains, but the ending finds itself dramatically changed from the source material, bringing a bit more hope to what was bleak, and ehhh...
