Managed to get tickets to a preview screening for free which I'm glad about because I probably wouln't have paid to see it. Some great special effects, a terrific score and a comfy entertaining film is what The Finest Hours is. It lacks characters and a good script really bringing it down and some hilarious (for me anyway) over acting that is just so over the top I couldn't help but laugh at. If it's a cold, wet night and you just want a cozy film to sit down and enjoy then sure, go ahead and see it. If you want a thought provoking film that gets you invested in the characters and an intriguing plot, give this one a miss.
