An absolute powerhouse of a performance from Marion Cotillard and a brilliant and subtle character study that deals with depression and the sociology of economic issues in households. Authentic and realistic camera work that is accompanied by very few cuts and extremely long takes of dialogue with also a very calm colour pallete. An interesting aspect as well is the lack of non-diegetic sound, there is no score or soundtrack and the only music that is heard is through radios inside the film that the characters can also here. This is an extremely well crafted and superbly acted foreign film that had one of the best performances of 2014.
