ok, so... weirdly paced, poorly stitched together from scene-to-scene and even full arcs, and definitely bad dialogue at many parts... but i liked ellie chu and her emotional support himbo and their friendship enough that i enjoyed the movie a lot, anyway.
also (spoilers) the subplot of munsky improving at running because of his friendship with ellie and their morning trips to school, affecting his football game and the final scene... my favorite thing about the whole movie. truly screamed "the Power of Friendship!" every time.
(and sorry to all the characters who were shortchanged, lmao. the fifteen hundred hints that aster Got It when in fact, it was revealed that she Definitely Did Not Get It until the end.... rip sorry aster u were done dirty. dad too. netflix asian american romcom extended universe really cut characterization for more yakult callbacks. blease.)
