    There Will Be Blood

There Will Be Blood is my favourite film.
Other movies may be better- hell other PTA films like The Master and Phantom Thread are pretty incredible films that hold their own, yet this film is the one that I go back to like nothing else.
Like the scent that lingers in your memory forever- this film has permanently secured a place in my mind. The script, that doesn’t start dialogue for a good 15 minutes, is economical- and to the…

    Promising Young Woman

Finally rewatched this movie- my thoughts are semi long, and I’m screaming into the void.

Fiction in my mind is either truly reflective of the world its set in, perhaps its a pure fantasy world with subtle similar machinations- or a parable of the world we are in. This falls in the parable category. A pop coloured moral story.

Seeing the discourse regarding this film sour over the past few months have been interesting (not unlike the same discourse that…

Perfect for those who asked the question, what would Portrait of a Lady on Fire look like if it was deplorable, comically offensive about religion, indulgent in the male gaze, and purposely directed for shock value by the director of smut such as Showgirls and Basic instinct?

Oh that’s right, no one asked for that. But here it is.
It’s so trash that I think many will label it as camp and have a great time I guess. I just didn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️

    The Beatles: Get Back

Peter Jackson making a documentary is enough for anyone to realise it was going to be 8 HOURS LONG!
I’ve watched this in weird 30/40 minute segments in the last few days. Watching one or two days in rehearsal at a go.
As a doco, it needs INCREDIBLE editing to be a fantastic documentary- but as it stands it’s an unbelievable behind the scenes to the biggest band in history. Having no real talking head distractions help keep me watching…

    The Simpsons in Plusaversary

This special has Homer and Goofy sitting at a bad party at Moe’s talking how sad they are before Lisa comes in singing about how great Disney+ is.

The Simpsons are blinking twice, they are being held hostage.

The Simpsons: The Good, the Bart, and the Loki

Remember when The Simpsons lampooned pop culture and satirised American family values? Mocking the world it inhabited rather than being a slave to pop culture and becoming the poster child of American life?

Look, I can’t even say it sucked without looking like the Comic Book Guy.

When’s the next one Disney- I never learn.
