Hooptober 8.0 — 1 of 34
This is probably the scariest thing I’ve watched in years. Perhaps ever? Heart raced, bones chilled — the works. Given that this was still a stuttering engine of a movie — meditative slow burns into the creepiest of highs, and the sleepiest of lows — I still have that fearful feeling at the back of my body. Constantly peeking at things I think I see at the corner of my eye but… nothing’s there.
The film has an incredible way of expressing a mundane eeriness; almost never feeling didactic and convincingly empirical in nature, but of course, the point here is in questioning the reliability of it all. Needs a rewatch in the (distant) future!
Hooptober is starting off well I guess.
