I don’t think I’ll ever find the words that’ll do this film justice but I’ll try. Lady Bird somehow perfectly walks the fine line between being uniquely personal and universally relatable. I’m almost two years out of high school and this still hits so close to home. When you drift apart from your friends, knowing your parents love you but feeling like they don’t like you, always comparing yourself to someone who’s richer or prettier — there’s not one thing in this film that I couldn’t relate to. There’s something about Lady Bird that’s just so special — I’ve seen hundreds of coming-of-age films but nothing quite like this. I’m so in love with this film but I couldn’t possibly talk about everything right here, right now. 1) Because the things I love are so numerous 2) Because it’s 2am and I’m sobbing my eyes out.
I’m gonna tell my mum I love her in the morning.
