Seriously is it okay to cry now? This is one of the saddest films I’ve seen but also has heart and humor. I think if Sean Baker puts this in his trilogy of films of people living a rough life, this is the best one of the bunch. Plus it has probably my favorite ending of the year which involves Disney World.
I’m so glad I got to see this slice of living on the low through the eyes of a child. It doesn’t feel like I’m watching a movie. It feels like I’m watching real life, and I loved every single minute.
And please give Willem Defoe an Oscar. This is probably his career best performance.
