Overall enjoyed it. GDT is a master of awesome production designs and interesting creatures, but here we only get the former. The DP behind ๐ณ๐ ๐ณ๐ ๐ณ๐๐๐ absolutely delivers in every single scene. The art direction, lighting, camerawork- all amazing. Bradley Cooper's best work in a long time.
Right off the bat- this isn't my type of story. Centered around WW2, very mysterious magician language.. Not for me. I will say, though, that some moments regarding the actual carnival acts were well done and were executed quite well. DT tries to go for a ''discover-more-as-you-rewatch'' type experience but it kinda fails here. The script isn't interesting enough and the acting isn't so strong that the movie earns it.
I think between each 15-20 min there's a great moment. Same regarding the score.
I doubt I'll watch it again in the near future, but it was fun while it happened. Far from Del Toro's best but not his worst either.. At least from what I've seen from him thus far.
