REVIEW: English and Portuguese

Definitely no one escapes the satire developed at The Holy Mountain. Religion, the state (the way of doing politics), society, corporations and not even the people who react to all this in protest. Nobody was left out. It is really democratic in that perspective.

We are talking about deconstruction. Deconstruction of the body (the way we feel and perceive things) and the mind (ideas and goals). This is really taken seriously by Alejandro Jodorowsky. The mystical tone, all the symbology spread throughout the plot and a strong seventies aesthetic with a lot of psychedelism made me intoxicated(and I enjoyed). However it is not only the beauty/ugliness of the form, but the deconstruction of it. We see the grotesque all the time and it is extremely uncomfortable. After all, what are we watching in all this? How far is it really valid? Well, that will be up to you.

The fact is that we have a bold and disturbing production. Perhaps one of the most disturbing renowned productions ever. The great aesthetic appeal is remarkable, grand and fantastic. It's a surreal journey through the cultural subconscious that we know.

Definitivamente ninguém escapa a sátira desenvolvida em The Holy Mountain. A religião, o Estado(o jeito de fazer política), a sociedade, as corporações e nem mesmo as pessoas que reagem a tudo isso em protesto. Ninguém ficou de fora. É realmente democrático nessa perspectiva.

Estamos falando de desconstrução. Desconstrução do corpo(da maneira como sentimos e percebemos as coisas) e da mente(ideias e objetivos). Isso é realmente levado a sério por Alejandro Jodorowsky. O tom místico, toda simbologia espalhada pela trama e uma forte estética setentista com muito psicodelismo me deixou embriagado(e eu gostei). Entretanto não é somente a beleza/feiura da forma, mas a desconstrução dela. Vemos o grotesco o tempo todo e é extremamente desconfortável. Afinal o que estamos observando nisso tudo? Até onde é realmente válido? Bem, isso ficará ao seu critério.

O fato é que temos uma produção ousada e perturbadora. Talvez uma das mais perturbadoras produções de renome da história. O grande apelo estético é notável, grandioso e fantástico. É uma viagem surreal pelo subconsciente cultural que conhecemos.
