How does this happen?
I just got to see STAR WARS projected from an immaculate 70mm print. The original STAR WARS, pre-special edition (“A New Hope” was on the crawl, but otherwise unaltered). It’s an impossible dream come true, and I’m so extremely grateful for this opportunity. This movie is enormously frustrating. The first half of the film is a hot mess. I don’t know that there’s a shot in the first hour of the film that lasts longer than five seconds. Faster, more intense indeed, and yet nothing of substance actually happens in all this sound and fury.
