Escape from L.A.

Escape from L.A. ★★★

3.0/5.0

Definitely a lesser Carpenter film (CGI really bogged down the quality of his filmmaking craft, it seems) but certainly a very fun movie nonetheless. This is hardly a sequel if I'm being honest; more of a reskin of the original, infinitely better, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, but I really can't complain too much when Kurt Russell, Steve Buscemi, Bruce Campbell, Peter Fonda, and so on are having this much fun with the material. It's dumb as rocks and super silly, but if I one day have a son who wants to dress up as Batman for Halloween, I'll point him in the direction of Snake Plissken instead; talk about a badass character. As always, and I'll say this in every review I write for the man, John Carpenter is the coolest dude to ever do it. Can't imagine a day went by shooting this film where Carpenter wasn't laughing his butt off for getting paid to make something this buckwild.
