    "I'm not Christ. I can't save you."
    "But you look like him."

Malina takes everything that was bubbling under the surface in The Piano Teacher and finally lets it erupt on screen: despair, denial, auto-destruction. really wish i was a period piece person because this would've probably been my shit! unfortunately i am not and this did not change my feelings on the genre. that being said, isabelle huppert is playing in one of my favorite temperatures of her's: Woman Who Is Sort of Intensely Displeased But Isn't Willing To Do Much To Express It Or Change It.

takes itself a little more seriously than it needs to ends up feeling like it's less provocative than it wants to be. i really just wanted the entire 90 minutes of the movie to be emmanuelle beart and beatrice dalle being toxic gay people (their chemistry carries the film), but oh well, we can't always get what we want.

When she reveals her letter, and her true intentions, it seems as if the movie is begging the audience for their surface level disgust. At this point, I wasn’t sure where the film was exactly going. I wasn’t sure what we were supposed to do with Erika, because it didn’t really seem like the…
