The Florida Project first identifies as a road movie that seems unoriginal with the premises provided... then it becomes personal, close yet far away - in the 10mm fish eye views yet shallow depth of field, you’re almost swimming in its personalization. I’m talking about apertures of 1.8 you haven’t seen in movies in a very long time. You see everything widely but you don’t.
This movie is so intimate, it wraps around you like a well-aged Pinot. But it isn’t just a personal story whose shots make you reflect on your own.
It occurred to me like society as a whole, yet in our own different states of being, in our grey lines of liberty and bliss... it is truly arthouse at the very end.
