Inez Philippakis’s review published on Letterboxd:
there's not many lgbtq movies out there but the ones that existe are all sort of negative in a way that they all deal with the issues of it being a sin and being confuse and get kicked out of the house or left by their friends but this was such a positive movie! Everything just sort of happens in a natural and progressive way and none of them rly question what's rly happening and whether it's right or wrong and the kid (elio) just let himself go, he didn't even question himself about his sexuality, he just felt attracted by a man and he went for it. Also, the family and even his "girlfriend" were all chil, they treat it like just another love interest and for me, that's the most beautiful thing about the movie, the normalization. We need more movies like this
