    ★★★★

“You brought a lot of shotguns.”
“You brought a lot of Russians.”

I didn’t know just how much I needed a movie where Bob Odenkirk, RZA and Christopher Lloyd murder scores of humans.

    Godzilla vs. Kong

    ★★★½

My first theatrical experience in over a year (ironically, my last was the original King Kong, so this felt right), and it definitely hit a sweet spot. The 2014 Godzilla is still my favorite of the Monsterverse, but this is probably #2. A little messy, especially in the human storyline, but this is a grand, gorgeous spectacle that’ll give every Godzilla/Kong fan what they’re looking for.

Plus, it’s got an incredible Lethal Weapon reference.

    Double Jeopardy

    ★★½

Pretty sure this isn't how the double jeopardy clause works.

And if it did, I'm sure the courts would be more than happy to convict Ashley Judd's character of the following crimes:

    Parole violation
    Breaking and entering
    Resisting arrest
    Assault
    Unlawful possession of a firearm
    Hit and run
    Identity theft

    This is a dumb movie.

Still, it's fun to see Jones play a variation on his Agent Gerard character from The Fugitive, and Ashley Judd is a likable protagonist.

This movie is really dumb, though.

    The Boy Next Door

This movie is kind of amazing. Put aside all of the terrible double entendres (I love your mother's cookies, etc.). Put aside one of the most blatantly obvious Chekhov's gun examples I've seen in a while. Put aside the fact that Ryan Guzman is playing a 19 year old when he looks like a 35 year old underwear model. Put aside one of the quickest normal to batshit insane flips in modern movie history. Put aside the fucking cat jump…
