Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Hunt for the Wilderpeople ★★★½

New Zealand. Majestical bush. There, I said it too. Nat Geo Wild meets Kiwi comedy featuring a chubby juvenile delinquent called Ricky Baker. His jacket says All Eyes on Me, his dog is called Tupac. G in the wild and on the run with Paula from Child Welfare Services on his tail. She's the Terminator type, about as aggressive as the Captain Cookers roaming the woodlands. Lucky for Ricky he gets a little help from Uncle Hec. Grumpy out the outside, soft on the inside.

Time for some male bonding and lots of adventure. A golden duo meeting a number of amusing characters as they try to outrun the authorities. Every time the movie gets a little out of hand or tends to lose its momentum, the mighty Sam Neill steers it back on course with a deadpan delivery. Funny, warm and good-hearted, silly and sometimes a little serious with lots of laughs and the occasional tear. A film with an irresistible charm. Yeah. Shit. Just. Got. REAL!
