Zero points for originality because this is just John Wick copy/pasted with Bob Odenkirk , but if anything it just proves that the 'US supersolider vs. Russian mafia' plot is always a winner. Also, it's written by the John Wick series writer so I guess I can't fault him for sticking to his guns.

Cocaine Bear 2023
Ugh. Not good. Which is a shame because I feel like I'm somewhat in this movie's target demographic as a lover of schlock. I own a copy of Wild Beasts for God's sake. But these types of retrowave homages never seem to fully click with me and often come across so soulless and uninspired, which is how I feel about Cocaine Bear.
This is going to sound a little weird but I also couldn't stand the actor's costuming and makeup. These 80s throwbacks try so hard to look believable and it comes across as authentic as the CGI bear.

Ichi the Killer 2001
Nauseatingly violent but certainly a spectacle in a lot of ways. I haven't seen this in over a decade and I had either watched a cut version or blocked it out of my mind because I was surprised by how gross this was.
There's things I like, such as Kakihara's 'Japanese Joker' persona and drip, and there's things I don't like, such as watching a grown man shit and piss himself and cry after murdering someone. Its a little long but it never gets boring due to the constant stream of escalating fucked up shit going on, but it wore me out by the end.

Spirited Away 2001
Watched this in honor of my good buddy Greg, who passed away last night. Greg was one of the kindest, most good-natured people Ive known and this was one of his favorites. I'm still in shock and not really sure what I'm doing or saying, but watching this was ultimately a very fulfilling and cathartic experience.
When pandemic started, he would come over to my place occasionally to watch movies and I loved introducing him to all the crazy shit…
