Pattinson rushes through a breathless night of petty crime and it is almost as stressful for the audience as for him. The acting is excellent, the characters feel very real, together with the natural lighting and camera work you're almost on board for the ride like in a documentary.     After the amazing cliffhanger of part two, the actual solution to getting Jack Sparrow back is quite a psychedelic mess and a let down. And even after that there isn't a lot of action for quite a while. Instead there are off screen deaths of monsters and minor characters and a lot of semi-believable backstabbing and betrayal between the protagonists. The production design and special effects still look amazing, the atmosphere still takes you to the ever-rainy, always-dark LA, even now that we're actually past the year the film takes place in. Neither action-packed nor particularly fast, the film excels in execution and world-building, the audience buying every moment of it. The showdown and the (final cut's) ending just floor you. A genre masterpiece.
